Drew Peterson Jury Selection Is Finished
Working long hours, the judge and lawyers finally sat a jury of 12 with 4 alternates for the Drew Peterson trial. Selecting a jury is often the most important aspect of the case. It is imperative to have a jury that is not biased in any way against your client. It is the lawyer=s job to ferret out biases and seat an audience that will be receptive to the story of the trial. That is where the lawyer=s experience plays an important role because selecting the jury is a real art as opposed to science. Sometimes a juror can meet pre-conceived notions of demographics but nevertheless have a hidden agenda. Effective questioning during what is call the voir dire process can help discover those jurors who might poison the case against your client due to their prejudices. Both the Plaintiff (prosecution) and the Defendant usually think they have picked a jury best for their case but only one of them will turn out to have chosen correctly. It will be interesting to see how the Drew Peterson case unfolds out and who did the best job in selecting a receptive jury.
